HISTORY OF PARKVIEW UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
Parkview’s history is a testament to the dedication and faith of our members,
whose efforts have built not just a church, but an inspired and inclusive community.
whose efforts have built not just a church, but an inspired and inclusive community.
Beginnings (1954-1955) In 1954, a small group of seven or eight families began meeting together, driven by a shared vision and faith. Their devotion laid the spiritual and physical foundations for our church. By October 1, 1955, they called a pastor, marking the official beginning of our community. Initially, worship took place in members' homes, but soon after, construction began on a parsonage, and ten acres of land were acquired for our future church building. |
Early Growth & Establishment (Late 1955-1958)
With the completion of the parsonage in late 1955, our congregation, now over one hundred strong, started holding services in its basement. In 1956, members dedicated themselves to various church duties and organized church school classes in different homes. The increasing membership quickly outgrew the parsonage, prompting a move to Gall School for formal worship. To meet our growing needs, a building committee was formed and a Fund Drive launched for a new church building.
In 1958, our dream was realized with the dedication of our new church building. By the end of the year, our membership had grown to over two hundred. The new building allowed us to expand our functions and activities, fostering a thriving church community.

Continuous Growth (90s-Today)
Parkview continues to show its commitment to growth and improvement. In 2002, a meditation labyrinth was added to the Parkview grounds, helping our members deepen their spiritual connection to God’s creations. Believing that every person should be loved and valued as a child of God, Parkview members voted unanimously to become an official Open & Affirming congregation in 2013.
Parkview’s commitment to environmental stewardship flourished with the addition of a dedicated rain garden in 2016. |
In 2022, members once again came together to invest in Parkview’s future by supporting a capital campaign to refurbish the Fellowship Hall, adding new technology capabilities that create new opportunities for the community to come together at Parkview.
