Music is an integral part of the worship experience at Parkview. Members consistently state that the music program at Parkview is one of the most valued parts of the church. The Sanctuary Choir is a 25 voice, non-auditioned choir open to anyone in high school or older. We perform a variety of traditional sacred choral works ranging from Handel to traditional African American Spirituals. The choir rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:15 pm from September through May. The choir sings on the first through third Sundays of each month. The fourth Sunday of each month is our Intergenerational Worship Service and soloists, small ensembles, and guest artists perform at that time. During the summer months we enjoy the many talents of singers and instrumentalists from the congregation and from the community.
In addition to regular Sundays, our choir presents two concerts during the year. The first is an annual Christmas concert that occurs on one of the Sundays during Advent. The choir performs approximately eight anthems during the service and puts everyone into the Christmas spirit.
In the Spring, the choir performs its annual “Top Ten” concert during which the choir votes on their top ten anthems sung that year (with a vote included from the congregation) and performs them in concert. The congregation votes on their favorite from that concert and that anthem is sung on the “Top Ten” the following year.
